Dog Squeaky Toy
Dog squeaker toys don't last long in our house. They think it's a treasure that needs to be removed immediately from the toy. Dog toy guts end up all over the house and sometimes inside the dogs. It looks like a toy murder scene when they are done. We've since started buying unstuffed dog toys. I collected the plastic squeakers before they were punctured and ruined. They have been sitting in a bowl on my desk. I happened to have these baby socks that I bought previously for another project and thought I'd give it a try. I let the dogs try the new toys out before I sewed the tops of the socks together. So far, the dogs have not tried to dig them out of the socks. I guess because there is no padding they are happy that they can squeak freely! The Pumpkin, the brown dog, loves to squeak the squeakers. She is a squeak-o-holic!
I'm going to sew the tops of the socks together, just in case. I'll keep you posted on any sock destruction. So far, so good!
FYI - The socks were bought from the 99 Cents store. You can get 3 to 4 pairs for a dollar!

UPDATE!
It has been a week since giving our squeakers new skins. So far so good. The dogs are not interested in taking them out of the socks. They like it that they can easily squeak the toy with no padding between it and their teeth. They also play tug-o-war with it and the material stretches pretty far without damage. I think we have a keeper!
